University of Birmingham Commonwealth Masters Scholarships

To ensure that issues of finance do not posse a barrier to students from Commonwealth countries considering their studies at the University of Birmingham, the university in celebration of its proud status as  a partner sponsor of the 2022 Commonwealth Games, is offering a generous Masters scholarships for international students from Commonwealth.

Eligible programmes for University of Birmingham Commonwealth Masters Scholarships

All English taught Masters degree programmes except:

  • All the programmes in the Birmingham Business School
  • Undergraduate degree programmes including the MBChB, MEng, MSci and MPharm undergraduate programmes

Target countries

Qualified students from the Commonwealth countries can apply for the University of Birmingham Commonwealth Scholarships. The countries include: Antigua and Barbuda, Australia, Bahamas, Bangladesh, Barbados, Belize, Botswana, Brunei Darussalam, Cameroon, Canada, Cyprus, Dominica, Fiji, Gambia, Ghana, Grenada, Guyana, India, Jamaica, Kenya, Kiribati, Lesotho, Malawi, Malaysia, Maldives, Malta, Mauritius, Mozambique, Namibia, Nauru, New Zealand, Nigeria, Pakistan, Papua New Guinea, Rwanda, Saint Lucia, Samoa, Seychelles, Sierra Leone, Singapore, Solomon Islands, South Africa, Sri Lanka, St Kitts and Nevis, St Vincent and The Grenadines, Swaziland, Tanzania,  Tonga, Trinidad and Tobago, Tuvalu, Uganda, and Vanuatu.

Scholarship benefits

£3,000 will be deducted from their total tuition fees of eligible scholars who successfully meet the criteria for the scholarship.

Eligibility criteria for University of Birmingham Commonwealth Masters Scholarships

For you to be eligible for this scholarship, you must:

  • Have applied for, and received an offer of admission for, a taught Masters degree at the University of Birmingham UK campus, to study in the 2022/2023 academic year.
  • Be classed a citizen of one of the Commonwealth countries listed above.
  • Be classed by the University as an oversea fee payer for tuition fee purposes.
  • Start your studies at the University in September/ October 2022 on a course delivered on-campus.

Application guidelines

The University of Birmingham Commonwealth Masters Scholarships  will be automatically offered to applicants who meet the criteria outlined above.

However, for you to accept the scholarship you will need to formally accept the offer you receive from the University’s Admissions Office, by the deadline stated on your offer. This can be on the postgraduate portal.

You will be required to pay the standard £2,000 (GBP) admissions deposit by the deadline set by the Admissions Office in your offer letter for you to fully secure the scholarship. Your deposit must be paid by 31 August 23:59 UK time/ GMT+1.
