Scholarship Benefits
Each recipient of this scholarship shall receive:
- a full tuition-fee waiver for the length of the course; and
- funding of £4,000 for costs associated with studies.
In addition to the financial benefits, the scholarship will enable you to study international human rights law and contemporary refugee studies whilst undertaking an internship in the Helena Kennedy Centre for International Justice if you study under Helena Kennedy Centre Sanctuary Scholarship.
Scholarship Duration
Maximum of 4 years for undergraduates and 18 months for postgraduates.
Kindly note that if you study part time, the Sanctuary Scholarship will be pro-rated, according to the intensity of the course, therefore the maximum durations stated above will be increased proportionately.
Eligibility Criteria for Sanctuary Scholarship at Sheffield Hallam University
For you to be eligible, you must:
- Have made an asylum application in the United Kingdom prior to applying for the Sanctuary Scholarship.
- Have an immigration status connected to your asylum claim.
- be residing in the UK.
- Not be eligible for funding from Student Funding England (Scotland or Wales or Northern Ireland) at the start of your course of the next academic year.
- Hold an academic offer (or are awaiting a decision) to study at Sheffield Hallam University for an eligible course starting in September 2022.
