The Global Wales International Scholarship is offered to postgraduate students who want to study a full-time masters programme in participating Welsh universities. It is available to students from Vietnam, India, North America and countries of the European Union. The Global Wales International Scholarship progranmme is a highly respected scheme being the first scholarship of its kind in Wales.
A good number of Walsh universities offer scholarships under this scheme, and you need to have already applied for a place to study an eligible postgraduate programme before submitting your scholarship application.
The scholarship is funded by the Global Wales Programme – a partnership between the Welsh Government, Universities Wales, The British Council and HEFCW.

All eligible full-time courses and programmes offered at any of the Welsh universities listed above.
Applications for this scholarship are accepted from Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Canada, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, India, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxemburg, Malta, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Sweden, Spain, USA, and Vietnam.
Number of Scholarships available
Each recipient is entitled to £10,000 towards the cost of tuition fees. Students are to take responsibility of any additional cost during the duration of the study.
Eligibility Criteria for Global Wales International Scholarship
For you to be eligible for this scholarship, you must:
- Be a citizen of any of the eligible countries listed above
- Have applied to study any of the eligible programmes at any of the host institutions listed above
- Be due to start your postgraduate programme in September 2022
- Be classed as an overseas student for fee paying purposes.
Applications for Global Wales International Scholarship are online by filling the application form. Applicants must have applied for offer of admission to study at any of the eligible programmes at any of the participating Welsh institutions. The application forms must be completed with relevant information and be submitted by the deadline. Incomplete forms will not be considered.
