Responsibilities of a Data Engineer

Data Engineers are saddled with the following professional responsibilities:

  • Work on all parts of your employer’s data platform
  • Work with technologies like Python, Kubernetes, Apache Airflow, dbt, Azure, Terraform and more
  • Finding clever, automated and intelligent solutions and implement them in an independent manner
  • Maintenance and development of scalable and robust data pipelines
  • Enhancement and maintenance of your employer’s key components like Azure Data Lake, AKS, Apache Airflow, dbt and Snowflake
  • Implementation of batch workflows with Apache Airflow under usage of our Azure Kubernets Cluster, Airflow best practices and a useful connection with other Azure PAAS Services and Snowflake Cloud Computing softwares
  • Creation and implementation of CI/CD pipelines with Azure DevOps

Requirements for Data Engineer Jobs

To be employed as a professional Data Engineer in Germany, you must:

  • Have a university degree with a focus on computer science (or a comparable qualification) with proven professional experience in the field of DevOps & cloud-native technologies
  • Have practical experience in dealing with IaaS and practical experience in cloud architectures
  • Have a goal-oriented communication skill to describe problems and complex issues to the team and clients
  • Have experiences in Software architecture and development including usage of cloud resources
  • Be capable of handling Git, Azure DevOps, CI/CD, good Linux knowledge
  • Have over 3 years’ experience in software development and data engineering, usage of Python, Unix, Docker, Kubernetes and Microsoft Azure
  • Be experienced in software best practices: Code reviews, code versioning, test-driven development, standards, object-oriented development, infrastructure as code
  • Have excellent hands-on experience in the maintenance and enhancement of frameworks like Apache Airflow, dbt or similar
  • Not shy away from SQL
  • Have Language skills Deutsch (B2) and English (B2)
