This scholarship was established as a legacy for Jonathan Nicholls, the former Head of Actuarial Services at ACC. Jonathan Nicholls was passionately committed to growing and developing the actuarial profession. The aim is to promote, develop and grow students wishing to pursue a career as an Actuary. The scholarship is also an investment towards local talent to provide a student in Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Finance or specifically Actuarial Science with financial support to complete their final year of study at Victoria University of Wellington.
ACC “Jonathan Nicholls” Scholarship is funded by ACC who is dedicated to supporting Actuarial Science students and others looking to pursue a career in the actuarial profession. ACC “Jonathan Nicholls” International Scholarship gives a unique opportunity for any potential internship offered, as the successful candidate could be placed in either ACC or the Ministry of Social Development which are all supported by ACC’s actuarial team. With this, successful student would have the chance to gain exposure to a variety of areas where actuarial skills can be applied, including a combination of traditional and non-traditional areas.
Jonathan Nicholls died in 2015 and ACC wishes to promote the actuarial profession in much the same way he did through this scholarship.

Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Finance and other Actuarial Science undergraduate or postgraduate courses.
Eligible group
Nationals of all countries of the world studying in Victoria University of Wellington.
Scholarship benefits
- Successful candidate will receive $5,000
- recipient may also be offered an internship at ACC over the summer break, subject to business requirements.
Eligibility criteria
For you to be qualified for this scholarship, you must:
- be currently studying either undergraduate or postgraduate course at Victoria University of Wellington.
- be studying Actuarial Science, Economics, Finance, Mathematics, or Statistics.
Application guidelines
Applications are made online and all completed online applications must be submitted by 4.30 pm on the closing date. Applications must be submitted with the following supporting documents:
- A statement outlining current/proposed programme of study
- A CV
- Two references (to be requested via the online application).
