Applications are ongoing for Australia for ASEAN Master’s Scholarship 2022-23 academic session. The scholarship is a prestigious international award offered by the Australian Government to the next generation of leaders from Association of Southeast Asian Nations member states. By undertaking a Master’s degree, recipients are expected to develop the skills and knowledge to drive change and help build enduring people-to-people links with Australia. Each ASEAN member state is to receive 10 Australia for ASEAN Scholarships.
Applicants for this scholarship are assessed on their professional and personal qualities, academic competence and their potential to impact on one of the four priority areas in the ASEAN Outlook for the Indo-Pacific. The priority areas are economic development, connectivity, maritime, and the sustainable development goals 2030.

All Master’s degree courses offered at the participating institutions.
Eligible groups
Qualified scholars from all the Association of Southeast Asian Nations member states. The ASEAN member states include: Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Viet Nam.
Women, people with disability and marginalised groups are mostly encouraged to apply.
Number of scholarships
Up to 100 scholarships are available. Each ASEAN member state will receive 10 Australia for ASEAN Scholarships.
Scholarship benefits
The Australia for ASEAN Master’s Scholarship is a fully funded scholarship and recipients will receive the following:
- full tuition fees
- overseas student health cover for the duration of the scholarship
- return air travel
- a one-off establishment allowance on arrival
- supplementary academic support
- contribution to living expenses
- introductory academic program
- a place in the Indo-Pacific Emerging Leaders Program
- fieldwork allowance for research students and masters by coursework which has a compulsory fieldwork component.
Eligibility criteria
To be eligible, you must:
- be a citizen of any of the ASEAN member states
- meet other criteria as contained in the Australia Awards Scholarship Policy handbook

Applications are made online via the Online Australia Scholarships Information System (OASIS). Applicants are to register and establish their eligibility before submitting your application.
